Six years ago, the European Parliament approved Regulation (EU) No. 517/2014, known as the F-Gas standard on the prohibition of fluorinated gases, therefore, it established a schedule for the reduction and gradual prohibition of the current fluorinated gases with greenhouse effect.
In order to comply with the new legislation, the new family of HFO gases was developed, the A2L refrigerants (slightly flammable), which combines an ultra-low GWP (less than 150) with greater ease of use compared to other alternatives such as natural; HFO provides safety and lower environmental impact (90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions).
For this reason, at GREENFRÍO we have been offering solutions with A2L refrigerants since 2019 and today, all the ranges of equipment we manufacture are approved for the new A2L refrigerants.
In addition, we also offer technical advice to retrofit our old equipment. Existing installations running on medium GWP refrigerant such as R448A or R449A remain operationally viable; However, a retrofit to A2L refrigerants can be performed. Although the performance of the A2L may be similar, it is not a direct conversion (simple change of refrigerant), but rather the system must be modified to adapt to the new refrigerant.
